On February 5, Qantas said that it had reached an "in principle" Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) with the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association (ALAEA).
- Boeing Receives Order From Romanian Carrier Blue Air for Next-Generation 737s[Feb. 05, 2008]
On Feb. 05, the Boeing Company announced an order from Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air Transport Aerian for two Next-Generation 737-800s and purchase rights for two more. The airplanes will join the airline's all-Boeing fleet to provide extra capacity in a fast-growing market. The order is valued at approximately US$150 million at list prices.

China Eastern Airlines and AVIC I unveiled terms of their regional airline joint venture, which will be called Happy Air and eventually will fly a fleet of 50 MA60s and 50 ARJ21s, although regulatory approval may be delayed.

On January 31, Dragonair welcomed the agreement to substantially liberalise air services between Hong Kong and major Japanese cities with the exception of Tokyo. Under the new agreement these services will no longer be subject to capacity restrictions.

A consumer watchdog has recommended the regulation of air-ticket agencies, and urged airlines to inform customers beforehand about over-bookings.
- Shanghai Airlines Predicts Loss for 2007[Jan. 22, 2008]
Shanghai Airlines, a Chinese regional carrier, predicted on Jan. 22 that it would post a loss for 2007, deteriorating from a net profit of 8.2 million yuan (US$1.1 million) in 2006.
- Air China to Borrow US$750 Million for Fleet Expansion[Feb. 05, 2008]
A spokeswoman at Air China Ltd., China's largest international carrier, said that the company is planning to borrow at least US$750 million this month to expand its fleet as travel demand rises in the world's second-biggest aviation market, Reuters reported.
