On August 30, low fare airline Tiger Airways announced an order for up to 50 V2500-powered Airbus A320-family aircraft engines backed by a V2500Select aftermarket agreement. The combined engine and aftermarket value to IAE is in excess of S$1.3 billion.

US federal regulators ordered inspections of the wing slats on all newer Boeing 737 jetliners based on findings about a fire that destroyed a China Airlines 737 in Japan recently.

Alteon Training, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company, announced it will open a new training center in Shanghai which will house the first Boeing 787 full-flight simulator in China. In addition, Alteon has signed a partnership agreement with Shanghai Airlines to co-locate the training center at Shanghai Airlines' newly opened training center at the Pudong Airport.
