Emirates will commence the first-ever non-stop service between South America and the Middle East as of October 1, 2007 connecting Dubai with Sao Paulo, Brazil. Operating six rotations per week, Emirates will deploy a brand new Boeing 777-200LR on the route.

Emerging from bankruptcy in February 2006, United Airlines has posted a net profit of $25 million for the first 11 months until 31 December 2006. This figure represents an improvement of $423 million, excluding reorganisation items.
- Korean Air Celebrates Boeing 747-400 Conversion[Jan. 23, 2007]
Korean Air has celebrated the conversion of its first B747-400 aircraft at KAL's Kimhae facility in Pusan. Boeing previously converted a B747 aircraft for the carrier.
- Icelandair Purchases New In-flight Entertainment System and Seats for Its Fleet[Jan. 28, 2007]
Icelandair has signed an agreement to purchase a new in-flight entertainment system from the U.S. producer Thales, as well as new seats from the French producer Aviointerios. With these agreements Icelandair's policy of offering its passengers full service and state of the art environment in its international flights is confirmed. The total amount of these two contracts is 1,8 billion IKR.
- GMG Airlines Flies to Malaysia[Jan. 25, 2007]
GMG Airlines from Bangladesh became the 50th carrier to operate at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) coinciding with Malaysia's 50th anniversary of independence. Its inaugural flight to Kuala Lumpur on January 24 marks a significant milestone in tourism cooperation between Malaysia and Bangladesh.
- Dallas Fort Worth Airport Sets A New Cargo Record[Jan. 26, 2007]
Dallas Fort Worth Airport of the United States handled more air cargo in 2006 than in any other year since its opening in 1989. The 250,479 tonnes of cargo handled last year, surpassed the previous record of 242,210 tonnes handled in 2000.

On January 26, Philippine airport authorities placed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals on heightened alert against bird flu, after a number of cases of human infection have been reported in Asian countries since the beginning of the year.
