A Boeing 767-300 aircraft of Asiana Cargo, the cargo unit of Asiana Airlines, landed in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (as "Baiyun Airport" below) at 19:40 on November 1, 2006 (local time). It marks the success of Asiana Cargo's Seoul-Guangzhou launch flight. The Seoul-Guangzhou-Seoul cargo service is one flight per week initially with the airline looks at increasing the frequency from next year due to the importance of Guangzhou's location in China-South Korea air transportation as well as the booming air cargo market resulted by the growing economy of the Pearl River Delta region.
