Effective from 10th September, China Eastern will officially launch its new direct route between the city of Weihai in China's Shandong province and Seoul, the capital of South Korea.

Data released by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation has found that at the beginning of the year, Asia-Pacific airlines were expected to lead the way in international industry profitability in 2006. IATA also projected a profit of USD2 billion and stated that the low labour costs and strong long haul markets were some of the key features of a projected success in the region.

From the 8th of September, five major US airlines will start charging travel agents, both traditional and online, an extra US$3.50 for each individual booking on domestic flights. Many travel agents have already declared that they are passing this charge onto customers.

- Dragonair Receives TRTO Certification[Aug. 30, 2006]
Dragonair has been approved as a Type Rating Training Organisation (TRTO) by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD). This means the airline can now offer A320, A330, B747, Multi-Crew Co-operation, Type Rating Instructor, and Type Rating Examiner training programmes under this widely recognised global standard.
