- Boeing to Announce New 747-8F Customers[Aug. 22, 2006]
Boeing looks set to announce more customers for its 747-8F as it closes the case for stretching the Intercontinental version.According to US sources, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, parent of Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo, will order up to 12 747-8Fs. The carriers currently operate a combined fleet of 37 747s including 20 Classics. Last week, Atlas President and CEO William Flynn said that airline would announce a freighter order shortly (ATWOnline, Aug. 15). This website also understands that another freight operator is close to an order for both dash 8Fs and 777Fs.
- Boeing Redelivers 747-400 to Korean Air[Aug. 22, 2006]
Boeing and Korean Air today announced completion and certification of Korean Air's 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter. For this modification, Boeing managed every aspect of the conversion process from contract signing, design and production through redelivery. Boeing contracted with Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co., Ltd. (TAECO) in Xiamen, China, for the hands-on modification work. This is the fourth 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter that has been redelivered through Boeing to cargo operators.
- APAC Releases End of Year Financial Results[Aug. 23, 2006]
Australia Pacific Airports Corporation (APAC), operator of Melbourne and Launceston Airports, today announced a post-tax profit of $87 million, an increase of 10% on the previous year. APAC's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased by 7% to $246 million. Overall revenue was up 8% to $348 million.
- Amadeus Goes to Court Seeking Injunction[Aug. 22, 2006]
Amadeus went to court to seek injunctive relief from American Airlines and Northwest Airlines, saying the two carriers will breach the non-discrimination provisions of their Participating Carrier Agreements if they go ahead with their "preferred channel" programs on Sept. 1.American has designated the Worldspan Super Access and Galileo Content Continuity programs and the Farelogix and G2 SwitchWorks GDS products as "competitive booking sources. It said it will impose a $3.50 "source premium" for each segment booked by travel agents through any other GDS product, including Amadeus, beginning Sept. 1.

Northwest Airlines and Air France, SkyTeam partners who were rebuffed by the US Dept. of Transportation as part of the alliance's bid for transatlantic antitrust immunity last December (ATWOnline, Jan. 12), opted to move forward with a codeshare agreement announced yesterday.
