- Competition Cuts Taiwan-Shanghai Airfare[Aug. 13, 2006]
This July & Agust, airfares from Taiwan to Shanghai via Hongkong & Macau have been much lower than in the past. The round trip economy class airfares had normally been over 15,000TWD during the peak month of July and August in the past. However, this year's airfares were firstly reduced to just 14,000TWD by EVA Airways on 6th July, then other airways followed the move. Presently, the market fare range is between 10,500TWD and 12,750TWD, this equals to an airfare reduction ranged somewhere between 15% and 30% compared to same period in the previous years. Analysts believe this year's cheaper fares are the direct result of tough competitions on the Taiwan-Shanghai (via Hong Kong & Macau) routes. (Translation: CARNOC - Tao Mengping)
