- ILFC Concludes Revision of Its Original 16 A350 Order to 20 A350XWBs[Oct. 26, 2007]
International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) and Airbus have concluded a revision of ILFC's original 16 A350 order to 20 A350XWBs. The revised agreement by the world's largest commercial leasing company by fleet value, and a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc, is for both the -800 and the -900 version. ILFC has the flexibility to also select the -1000 version upon request. This transaction brings total orders for the A350XWB to 196 from nine customers.
- Czech Airlines Denies Privatisation Talks[Oct. 26, 2007]
Czech Airlines (CSA), slated for eventual privatisation by the government, has not entered into talks with other carriers, company president Radomir Lasak said in a brief statement on October 23 following a media report that CSA had been in talks with several prospective bidders.
- Lufthansa Boosts Operating Margin as Profits Grow[Oct. 25, 2007]
Germany's Deutsche Lufthansa improved its operating margin by almost two-fifths in the first nine months of the year as it posted a 57 percent rise in operating profit, the airline said on Oct. 25.
- Qantas to Expand in New Zealand[Oct. 23, 2007]
Air New Zealand is about to be squeezed in the domestic market from both sides by Australian rivals. In October Qantas said it would export its business traveller-focused City Service operation from Australia to New Zealand. This follows Virgin Blue's decision in August to launch low-cost domestic flights in New Zealand through its subsidiary Pacific Blue.
- Embraer Sells 11 E-Jets to TACA[Oct. 24, 2007]
Embraer announces a contract for the sale of 11 Embraer 190 jets, with options for another 15 aircraft of the same model, to El Salvador's TACA Group. The value of the deal, at list price, is US$379.5 million, based on the economic conditions of January 2007, and could reach US$897 million, if all options are confirmed. This order was already included in Embraer's third-quarter backlog as "undisclosed".
- TAG Sells US Charter Operation to Sentient Flight Group[Oct. 26, 2007]
Geneva, Switzerland-based business aviation group TAG Aviation Holding has sold its US-based aircraft management and chartering business to Sentient Flight Group, a large specialist US-owned company in the same general aviation sector.
- British Airways Completes US$1.70 Billion Debt Financing[Oct. 26, 2007]
On Oct. 26, British Airways concluded arrangements for a long term multiple option facility for US$1.7 billion. The facility will be used to finance aircraft delivered over the next five years.
- Kenya Airways Profit Down 18 Percent[Oct. 26, 2007]
Kenya Airways pre-tax profit for six months up to September 30, has declined by 18.8 per cent.
