Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe flew off to the East for his annual holiday, but declined to use Air Zimbabwe because its new Chinese jetliner was "not safe".
- Singapore Airlines to Outsource Reservations Call Centre Services in Some Countries[Jan. 18, 2007]
Singapore Airlines will outsource some of its reservations call centre functions in four countries - Australia, New Zealand, United States and Canada, and is considering doing so in a fifth - the United Kingdom - with an aim to streamline operations, and increase the service to 24 x 7 coverage in those markets.

ANA will participate in trials run by Japan's Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport to simplify check-in and immigration procedures for passengers departing Tokyo's Narita Airport on ANA flights. The ANA portion of the so-called Simplifying Passenger Travel (SPT) trials will run from January 31 this year to March 23 (inclusive) in the South Wing of Terminal 1.

Japan Airlines will introduce new service improvements including a first-time ever first class service on domestic flights, and a new international service class, "JAL Premium Economy" in FY2007 (the fiscal year from April 1st 2007 to March 31st 2008).

Consolidation of operations by oneworld member airlines at Tokyo Narita, the main international hub of alliance member elect Japan Airlines, begins on January 17 with the transfer of American Airlines from the airport's Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, where JAL and Qantas are already housed. Cathay Pacific will move across a few days later, on Sunday (21 January), with Finnair following on Thursday, 1 March.

An MD-10 cargo jet equipped with Northrop Grumman's Guardian anti-missile system took off from Los Angeles International Airport on a commercial flight on January 16, the company said.
