Germany and France have been celebrating 50 years of postwar peace, codified in the Elysee Treaty that has been a hallmark of friendship after two world wars. The two countries' embassies in China have marked the occasion in a series of events. The latest: A demonstration flight last week of the Eurocopter, made by a German-French subsidiary of EADS, to highlight commercial cooperation between the two countries and the importance of helicopters in emergency medical services. French Ambassador Sylvie Bermann and German Ambassador Michael Schaefer took a joint flight over the capital on Wednesday, after telling the assembled press that their countries were eager to share experiences in civilian helicopter operations with China.

CDB Leasing Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Development Bank (CDB), announced on Feb. 27 that a purchasing contract of five Global 6000 business jets has been signed in Shenzhen with the Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace. According to the 2012 catalog prices for typically configured planes, the deal is valued at about US$293 million.

An Indonesian airlines firm, Sky Aviation, received on Wednesday the initial delivery of Russian- made commercial plane Sukhoi Super Jet 100 (SSJ 100), expecting five to join the fleet by the end of this year. "Thank God, today we received one brand new Sukhoi plane from a total of 12 we ordered until 2015," Sky Aviation Marketing General Manager Sutito Zainuddin was quoted as saying by the Antara news agency.
