In order to comply with international standards and be better prepared for next summer's Olympics, eight Chinese airlines are adopting a new policy of charging for ticket returns in proportion to the airfare's discount rate rather than basing the fee on the time the ticket was returned.

On Sep. 5, Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it will further strengthen its services to Sydney, Australia, by adding an extra flight on four days each week from February 1, 2008. When the new Sydney services begin, Cathay Pacific will operate a total of 25 flights each week to the city and a total of 58 weekly flights from Hong Kong to Australia.
- Air China Launches Further Premium Cabin Service[Aug. 30, 2007]
From September 1, Air China is adding four additional routes to its upgraded premium-cabin services, "Forbidden Pavilion" First Class and "Capital Pavilion" Business Class. The launch of the premium classes on the additional routes is part of Air China's US$90 million investment in upgrading 15 long-range wide-body aircraft to a full three-class configuration, started in late 2004.

Domestic airline passengers will be able to make phone calls and send e-mails from the sky from next year, a local carrier has said.

Air New Zealand will increase services between China and New Zealand to cash in on the growing passenger traffic between the two countries.
- Charter Flights Between Shanghai and Tokyo to Start[Sep. 01, 2007]
China and Japan will launch regular charter flights for passengers between Shanghai's Hongqiao Airport and Tokyo's Haneda Airport beginning Sep. 29 which marks the 35th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral diplomatic ties.

On August 29, Japan's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry approved Shenzhen Airlines' plan to launch its first services between China and Japan.
