The graph above showed that Ned Walker, the Senior Vice-President of Global Corporate Communications of Continental Airlines, is optimistic in the carrier's strive for new direct service between New York and Shanghai to be awarded in New York's celebration.
Continental Airlines, the world's sixth largest airline, meanwhile celebrated solemnly the first anniversary of New York to Beijing direct service, at the same time made it public that that the airline has been strived for a new direct service between New York and Shanghai.
Although its competitive players have strong strengths, but Continental Airlines also has two advantages. First, this company is a company who owns a relative young fleet, many are the latest aircraft types in America's top airlines, its average aircraft age is seven years. New aircrafts save fuel, generate much smaller pollution towards the atmosphere, and a big economical benefit, which is the sole character compared with other companies. Second, New York to Shanghai service is in accord to the existing passenger transportation demands, the flights connecting China and USA's two biggest economical metropolises have the best profitable prospects, in addition, this company owns the most advanced airport terminal establishment in the local areas of New York, other competitive players are left far behind.
It is expected that the Department of Transport of the United States of America will review all applications and make a decision in November or December this year to award the new direct service approval between China and the US to the appropriate airline. (Translation: CARNOC Tao Mengping)
