Dragonair Releases Sep. Traffic Figures
Dragonair | Oct. 19, 2006
Dragonair posted year-on-year rises in both passenger numbers and cargo in September. The number of passengers flown increased 9.4% to 455,585 and freight volume was up 8.1% compared with the same month last year.
"Travel was relatively strong in September," said Dragonair CEO Kenny Tang, "helped by demand to and from Taiwan, and group travel on the Beijing route."
"Throughout the summer we have seen substantial growth on secondary routes such as Chengdu, Changsha and Sanya, as we introduced additional capacity to meet increased market demand."
Cargo's performance was equally good.
"Cargo had an excellent month in September, with demand starting to pick up as we head into the busy end-of-year season," said Mr. Tang. "Shippers rushed to complete orders before the National Day holiday in China at the beginning of October, helping to push up the overall volume of freight we carried."
He added: "We expect strong demand to continue in the next few months, and are well prepared to handle it, given the delivery of the first of five B747-400 converted freighters later this month."
