China Southern Airlines Co., Ltd. | Jan. 23, 2007
China Southern Airlines is pleased to announce that it finished Year 2006 selling a record 5.47-billion-yuan in e-tickets.
China Southern Airlines was the first airline in China to sell an Internet e-ticket in 2000 and its commitment to e-ticket sales six years ago is paying major dividends to the carrier. As the airline moves toward a 100% ticketless travel environment, China Southern Airlines currently has more than 30% of its overall sales volume sold as e-tickets.
With the largest fleet in China with 298 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, China Southern has embarked on a strategic transformation last year, becoming significantly more efficient by introducing new methods of operation and ticket sales, said Mr. Liu Shaoyong, Chairman, China Southern Airlines.
The airline carried 49.21 million passengers in 2006, with revenue of 46.54 billion yuan or US$5.97 billion dollars.
