Dallas Fort Worth Airport Sets A New Cargo Record
Air Cargo News | Jan. 26, 2007
Dallas Fort Worth Airport of the United States handled more air cargo in 2006 than in any other year since its opening in 1989. The 250,479 tonnes of cargo handled last year, surpassed the previous record of 242,210 tonnes handled in 2000.
The growth can partly be attributed to an increase in shipments by FedEx, as well as chartered air cargo flights with An-124 and Boeing 747 aircraft transporting helicopters, aircraft engines and oilfield equipment.
Preparing for future growth, the airport has built a new 100,000 square ft air cargo facility, with on-site US customs and examination.
