SilkAir to Reduce Fuel Surcharges
SilkAir (S) Pte Ltd | Jan. 29, 2007
Following a decline in jet fuel prices in recent weeks, SilkAir will reduce its fuel surcharge for tickets issued on or after Tuesday, January 30, 2007:
- From US$18 per sector to US$16 per sector for all SilkAir flights except flights between Singapore and India, and between Singapore and China.
- From US$54 per sector to US$52 per sector for all SilkAir flights between Singapore and India, and between Singapore and China.
This is the second time the surcharges have been reduced: the first was on October 14, 2006.
While the price of crude has come down, jet fuel prices have not declined to the same extent, and the difference between the two remains high. Collections from fuel surcharges have only ever provided partial relief from the increase in cost, arising from high jet fuel prices.
