Athens International Airport Breaks Cargo Record

With cargo traffic exceeding 120,000 tonnes (+3.6 per cent compared to 2005), Athens International Airport handled its highest volume of cargo since the airport's opening. In addition, the number of flights also enjoyed a 5.5 per cent increase, reaching 190,872.
"For the fifth consecutive year, Athens International Airport enjoys a healthy passenger traffic growth. Thanks to this robust development, Athens International Airport surpassed 15 million passengers in 2006, which brings our airport among the 'family' of the biggest European airports, with an important position in the market," commented the airport's chief executive officer, Alfred van der Meer.
