Despite still waiting for regulatory approval for their partnership with Skywest, Virgin Australia has announced it will be flying from Brisbane to Gladstone and Port Macquarie.
They plan to start the flights in October, meaning passengers will not have to fly via Sydney when going between Port Macquarie and Brisbane.
The ATR 72-500 aircraft will be used for the flights which will be return once a day to Brisbane from Port Macquarie and twice daily to Gladstone return.
Virgin Australia's Group Executive of Alliances, Network and Yield, Merren McArthur, said in a statement the new routes reflected the airline's commitment to the expansion of its regional network.
