American Airlines Targets Chinese Students Studying in US

American Airlines (AA), the world's largest airline by fleet number, plans to strengthen its marketing among Chinese students studying in the US this year.
"Student traffic is a significant part of the business. We also hope that after they graduate we can continue the relationship with them," Theo Panagiotoulias, AA's managing director in the Pacific, said recently on the first anniversary of its Shanghai-Chicago daily non-stop service.
Strategies include a discount voucher of 500 yuan for each student who buys a ticket with AA. The student's family members can also use the voucher when flying to the US within a year.
China is the world's largest source of overseas students and Chinese students account for over 10 percent of overseas students at US colleges.
