China Eastern Signs MOU with MIAT Mongolian Airlines

On May 8, China Eastern Airlines (MU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MIAT Mongolian Airlines (OM) in Shanghai to start cooperation on business, technology, training, etc.
According to the MOU, both parties will cooperate on bilateral combined transport for passenger and cargo services. On the premise that MIAT gets certificate of IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), they will look for codeshare opportunity on the route between Shanghai and Ulan Bator. Furthermore, MIAT will provide ticket sales service for MU in Mongolia, and MU will help MIAT explore the market in China to attract more Chinese travelers to Mongolia. In addition, after MIAT launches route to Shanghai, China Eastern Catering Company will become the only designated catering company offering in-flight meals for MIAT.
In the aspect of the cooperation on technology, according to the agreement, China Eastern will provide ground support service and maintenance service for MIAT at Pudong International Airport (PVG). As for the cooperation on training and knowledge-sharing, China Eastern will provide necessary training for MIAT's flight crew, cabin crew and MRO crew.
It is also revealed that as a member of SkyTeam alliance, China Eastern will play an important role to help MIAT join SkyTeam.
