On May 26, 2014, Spring Airlines (9C) tested a new technology to equip flight attendants with Google Glasses on its flight 9C8887 from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport (CTU), becoming China's first airlines to employ this device in the cabin.
By wearing Google Glasses, Spring Airlines' flight attendants can get passenger information intuitively. For example, according to the name and seat number listed on the device, flight attendants can accurately and timely provide service for the passenger who wants to buy food. With the help of Google Glasses, they can serve passengers better and more efficiently.
The Google Glass, similar to a smart watch, can control photo capture and video calls and identify directions through voices, featuring the functions of internet access, text processing and emails, etc.
With the popularities of wearable devices, Spring Airlines is staying at the forefront of technological innovation. The low-cost airline hopes to embrace technology to provide efficient, comfortable journeys for passengers, and carries out the concept of low cost to the end. In March, it initiated a quick boarding access for passengers who wear smart watches at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG).
