Boao Airport Starts Construction Officially

Construction of Qionghai Bo'ao Airport, a regional airport being built in the city of Qionghai, Hainan Province, started officially on Mar. 19, 2015, which is expected to open in 2017. The city held a ground-breaking ceremony held on Tuesday morning with attendance of government officals.
The new airport locates in south of Boao, 12 kilometers away from Qionghai, and it's west to the venue of BFA in Zhongyuan Town with a distance of 15 kilometers.
The airport will cost nearly 1.127 billion yuan and take about two years to complete. In line with a 4C class standard, Boao Airport will build a runway of 2,600 meters in length and 45 meters in width, as well as a terminal building covering 9,000 square meters and 26 parking bays.
When the project is completed, the airport will be able to accommodate passenger aircraft like the Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320, as well as business jet and private aircraft. It is designed to handle 480,000 passengers, 4,950 aircraft movements and 1,440 tonnes of cargo and mail per year by 2020.
