Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport expects to serve up to 2.84 million passengers in the upcoming 40-day Spring Festival travel season or "Chunyun Period" from Jan. 13 to February 21, an increase of 10% over a year earlier.
Average daily passenger numbers will stand at 71,000. The airport plans to handle around 38,500 totally during the travel rush, including 218 extra flights and 125 charter flights, 3,590 more than last year.
The airport warns that lithium batteries and power banks are not allowed to be carried in checked luggage, and matches and cigarette lighter are forbidden to be carried on flights or in checked luggage.
In addition, the airport will introduce special security lanes for male passengers in an effort to speed up security checks.
Travelers are advised to get to the airport earlier than usual to avoid the possible traffic jam and leave enough time for check-in and security checks.
