AirAsia X plans to continue expanding its core China market, with the launch of Wuhan-Kuala Lumpur service on March 22.
"China is a segment that continues to record encouraging progressive performance every year and will remain the focus in AirAsia X's network expansion strategy," AirAsia X chief executive officer Benyamin Ismail said in a statement.
The long-haul, low-cost carrier will operate the Wuhan-Kuala Lumpur four times weekly, using Airbus A330-300s.
The airline said it is the largest foreign carrier into China and Wuhan will soon be a virtual hub for the AirAsia and AirAsia X groups, as it is set to receive 32 weekly flights coming from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Bangkok and Phuket.
AirAsia currently operates daily flights between Wuhan and Kota Kinabalu.
Meanwhile, the low-cost carrier now is offering special one-way all-in-fares from 199 yuan, for its four-times weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Wuhan.
