HNA Group Sees 74% Pax Growth on International Routes in January

HNA Group, parent of Hainan Airlines, reported Wednesday that its passenger traffic increased 21.22% in January 2017 compared with the same period last year.
Five affiliated carriers -- Hainan Airlines, China Xinhua Airlines, Air ChangAn, Shanxi Airlines and Lucky Air, Fuzhou Airlines, Tianjin Airlines, Urumqi Airlines and GX Airlines -- carried 5.73 million passengers in the last month, according to the statistic reported by the Haikou-based carrier.
Specifically, domestic passenger volume registered a 19.23% year-on-year growth to 5.37 million, with the number of international passengers climbing 73.62% to 327,300. Regional passenger volume fell 11.92% to 24,300.
Cargo volume totaled 39,690 tonnes, down 8.09% from a year earlier.
The passenger load factor dropped 0.41 percentage points to 87.28%, with the freight load factor declined 8.35 percentage points to 36.6%.
HNA Group took delivery of three Boeing 737-800 aircraft, one 787-9 Dreamliner and one EM9 last month. As of January 2017, the Group operated a fleet of 344 aircraft.
