The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) is asking China Southern Airlines to cancel its Zhengzhou-Haikou flight CZ3947 from April 1 due to the route's poor on-time performance.
Other three Chinese airlines -- Fuzhou Airlines, Colorful Guizhou Airlines and Air Guilin -- have been slammed and banned from adding frequencies, charter services and applying for new routes, after failing to meet performance standards, the CAAC added.
Similarly, the aviation watchdog is also blocking any additional flights out of Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport and Fuzhou Changle International Airport, citing poor on-time performance in January.
In its monthly monitoring report, the CAAC said Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport met requirements in January but not in December, and will hence continue under the ban till March 31.
From March 1, Joy Air, Tianjin Binhai International Airport will be able to resume normal operations for applying new services and additional frequencies, after meeting the regulator's requirements.
The regulator stated that the airline and airports must first meet performance targets for two consecutive months, before further flight applications will be accepted.
