Changzhou Airport was approved to be upgraded from 4D to 4E, becoming the second 4E international airport in Jiangsu Province. This airport could guarantee the taking-off and landing of wide-body jets. Therefore, Changzhou's civil aviation has entered into an era of "large aircraft".
In the past, development of international routes for Changzhou Airport has been limited due to airport level. A 4E airport could accommodate long-haul wide-body jets such as B747 and A340, its flight radius reaching 10 thousand km and flight hour reaching 10 hours. It means that Changzhou could connect with most of the regions globally through nonstop routes, which would improve Changzhou's connectedness.
