Lufthansa Technik AG is presenting different new products for comfort and safety on board at the world's leading trade fair for aircraft cabin equipment, the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg. Cabin installations which ensure that even passengers in high-density cabin configurations with a maximum number of seats have enough storage space for their hand luggage are one example.
Additional compartments in the cabin ceiling
Lufthansa Technik can create additional storage space in the cabin through integration of Center Ceiling Stowage+ (CCS+). This product is a stowage compartment offered in conjunction with the Austrian component manufacturer FACC that can be installed in the front or rear of the cabin as well as in the middle. With a load of up to 38.5 kg, the new CCS+ is designed to bear significantly more weight than previous models. This new module is intended especially for objects that are needed infrequently during flight, such as newspapers, the crew's luggage, life rafts, baby cribs or wheelchairs.
More storage for hand luggage
Limited space for hand luggage is an annoyance for both passengers and airlines, especially in cabin configurations with a high number of seats. When there is not enough room for all the hand luggage, the search for space slows down the boarding process. One solution is the installation of significantly bigger doors on the overhead compartments, creating space in one compartment for five rolling suitcases instead of just three. These bigger doors are available for Airbus narrowbody aircraft.
Bar module for the galley
Lufthansa Technik and Diehl Aviation are offering a bar module for the galley. Normally, the installation of an on-board bar is not an option for airlines for reasons of cost and space. However, the pull-out galley bar module, which is only as large as two standard cabin trolleys, makes use of existing space in the galley. It takes very little effort for the cabin crew to create a workspace that can serve as a bar counter, but also, for instance, as a self-service station or a duty-free shop. The new module's design is intended primarily for widebody aircraft.
Lightweight emergency escape slides for maximum seating configurations
Lufthansa Technik offers the installation of weight-saving escape slides for cabin configurations in the Airbus A320 family that have a maximum number of seats. These single-lane slides fulfill all the requirements of safe, rapid cabin evacuation (TSO-C69c), but they weigh 80 kg less than the usual dual-lane escape slides. They were developed and approved jointly with the American manufacturer EAM Worldwide.
Contact partners for Lufthansa Technik's cabin products will be available at the company's booth 6B80 in Hall 6 at Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg from 10 - 12 April 2018.
