China Aviation Daily | Nov. 08, 2018
Aeronautical and technology industries, leading universities and research institutes join forces during a symposium held by Airbus Beijing Engineering Center (ABEC).
This technology symposium aims at finding innovative solutions to the challenge of accelerating industrialization of China's cutting edge technologies for aviation industry.
Creativity and problem solving workshops run during the whole event; the exchanges cover topics like additive manufacturing, advanced and ecological materials of the future, intelligent and morphing structures. The event includes as well the exploration of innovative new business and cooperation models in the field of technology co-development.
Among the participants, there are managers and experts from Airbus, Bright Laser Technology (BLT), professors from Tsinghua, Sinano, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) and Northwestern Polytechnical University.
"The diversity of competences and experiences of participants to this technology symposium is a key success factor to the finding of innovative solutions. This event provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and define together solutions to our common challenges, like the one of accelerating the transition from research to application", said Michel TRAN VAN, General Manager of ABEC.
Since its creation in 2005, ABEC, a joint venture between Airbus and China Aviation Industry Corporation, has been pushing the boundary of engineering excellence and has been successfully taking part in designing components for all the Airbus programmes including the company's flagship A380 and A350XWB, with specific design work of the 5% of the A350XWB airframe work packages carried out in China.
Currently around 130 Chinese engineers work in ABEC, applying their skills and competencies in line with Airbus highest standards and using state-of-the-art technologies. They develop engineering solutions along the full life cycle of an aircraft, which covers areas from research and design to manufacturing and in services support.
