2018 Ctrip and CAPSE Travel Ranking Report on Flight Data

Recently, Ctrip and CAPSE have jointly released the 2018 Travel Ranking Report on Flight Data. Powered by Ctrip's insight into domestic user behavior and CAPSE's global flight data, the report gives a multidimensional interpretation on consumption behavior of China's air travelers in 2018 from perspective of outbound visitors' portraits, flight experience and passenger's attention on airlines and airports.
1.Male business travelers and younger generation dominate air travel market
- According to the report, Generation Z represented by the post-90s and 00s have become an emerging force in travel market, with males being in the majority of flight passengers.
- Mostly travel for business and leisure
- Air travelers are to be characterized by younger age.
- Based on user profile analysis, post-80s and 90s are the most important consumer generation for air travel. To be specific, consumers aged 19-30 account for the largest proportion of 28.57%, which is equal to 25.97% of those aged 31-40, followed by consumers aged 18 and below of 4.37%. Totally, post-00s generation and people aged 19-30 account for 32.94%, exceeding the proportion of people aged 31-40.
2.Chinese airlines are main carriers and WiFi rises to a new concern to flight comfort
- China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Air China and Hainan Airlines have become the most popular airlines.
- Airport security check wins the most concern, followed by airport cleanliness, signage, facilities and retail.
- Cabin staff service and food & beverages are respectively the two most important factors affecting passengers' choice on flight tickets.
