Qatar Airways recently opened the world's only dedicated first and business class terminal at Doha International Airport. The new Premium Terminal opened a week before the start of the 15th Asian Games taking place in Doha. Qatar Airways is the official airline of the event.

Qatar Airways recently launched the world's first instant frequent flyer enrollment kiosk for new Privilege Club members at Doha International Airport.

Emirates has teamed up with Apple to offer iPod integration with its in-flight entertainment systems. The other airlines planning to offer iPod integration are Air France, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM and United Airlines.
- United Airlines to Upgrade First and Business Class Seats on International Routes[Dec. 18, 2006]
United Airlines will introduce new first and business class seats on international routes next year, including its four daily non-stop routes between the United States and China. The carrier is investing US$165 million in upgrading the seats in its wide-body aircraft. About 100 airplanes will be upgraded.

On December 18, Virgin Blue's reputation as Australia's most on-time airline received a boost when Australia's Department of Transport and Regional Economics figures revealed the airline had clocked up an all-time record on time departure figure of 93.8%, following the release of all airline data for October, 2006.
