On December 4, China Airlines reached its 47th anniversary, and unveiled its new uniforms to help celebrate the occasion. More than 1,300 guests and CAL employees attended the event. The stylish new uniforms combine fashion and tradition, and highlight CAL's corporate spirit and image.
- Dragonair Cargo Records Year-on-year Rise for Four Consecutive Months[Dec. 14, 2006]
Dragonair posted a year-on-year rise in cargo in November, continuing the upward trend that began in August. Volume was up 7.8% compared with the same month last year. Meanwhile, a total of 447,938 passengers flew with the airline in November, little change from the number in 2005.
- Boeing, Guggenheim Aviation Partners Agree to Three 777 Freighters[Dec. 12, 2006]
On December 12, Boeing announced that Guggenheim Aviation Partners, LLC (GAP), the U.S.-based aviation investment firm, acting on behalf of one of its investment funds, has ordered three Boeing 777 Freighters, with an option to purchase one additional airplane.
- China's Civil Aviation Sector Maintains Fast Growth[Dec. 11, 2006]
China's civil aviation has maintained a fast growth rate in the first ten months of this year, a senior official of China's civil aviation authority said here on December 11.
- Cathay Pacific Releases November Traffic Figures[Dec. 12, 2006]
On December 12, Cathay Pacific Airways released traffic figures for November 2006 that show a continued growth in both passenger and cargo traffic, the latter helped by the introduction of a new freighter service to Beijing.
- Airport Authority Hong Kong Announces Interim Results[Nov. 29, 2006]
In its first interim results announcment, Airport Authority Hong Kong revealed strong growth in turnover and profit attributable to shareholder for the six months ended 30 September 2006 on 29 November this year. The unaudited results, which were approved by the Airport Authority's Board of Directors, also included solid growth in passenger and cargo throughput.
- China Airlines to Launch New Cargo Service to Stockholm[Dec. 01, 2006]
Taiwan's China Airlines will inaugurate a new Taipei-Stockholm cargo service on December 6, extending its cargo services further into northern Europe. Following the inauguration of this new service, China Airlines will provide all-cargo flights to seven destinations in Europe, making it the carrier with the most extensive cargo services between Taiwan and Europe, and the first Taiwanese carrier to enter the northern European cargo market.
- Freight Growth Dips, Passenger Demand Rises[Nov. 30, 2006]
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released its October traffic results showing that year-on-year demand growth for international freight was 2.3%, a sharp drop from the 4.9% growth recorded in September. This is the weakest monthly freight growth rate recorded in a year. By contrast, international passenger demand growth ended a five-month period of slowing growth with a 5.3% increase (up marginally from the 4.7% recorded in September).

Taiwanese carrier China Airlines sees competition across the border clouding the outlook for Hong Kong's airfreight business, especially once airports in southern China resume direct links with Taiwan.

Budget airline Viva Macau's first flight is expected to take off on December 5.
