- China and the EU First Sign Civil Aviation Agreements[Jun. 05, 2019]
On May 20, Feng Zhenglin, Administrator of Civil Aviation Administration of China, Luminita Odobescu, the permanent representative to the European Union of Romania which is currently holding the Presidency of the EU Council, and Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport, jointly signed the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the European Union on Civil Aviation Safety and the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the European Union on Certain Aspects of Air Services in Brussels. Ambassador Zhang Ming, head of the Chinese Mission to the European Union, witnessed the signing of the agreements.

On May 20, CAAC issued the first "all-in-one" maintenance permit to Ameco (Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Corporation). The move represents a major change in the method of management and supervision of the civil aviation maintenance industry, and a solution to the key issues in the cross-regional management of maintenance enterprises. It also constitutes a critical driver for the realization of unified management, optimized layout, resource sharing, efficiency improvement, costs reduction among maintenance enterprises and the high-quality development of the maintenance industry. Li Jian, Deputy Administrator of CAAC, attended the certificate issuing ceremony and delivered a speech.

- Aviation Leaders Assemble in Seoul for IATA's 75th Annual General Meeting[May 29, 2019]
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that leaders of the global air transport industry are gathering in Seoul, Republic of Korea, for the 75th IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS). Hosted by Korean Air, and held for the first time in the Republic of Korea, the event is expected to attract more than a thousand top leaders from among IATA's 290 member airlines, their suppliers, governments, strategic partners, international organizations and the media.
- Solid Passenger Demand Growth in April[May 29, 2019]
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced global passenger traffic results for April 2019 showing that demand (revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) rose by 4.3% compared to April 2018. April capacity (available seat kilometers or ASKs) increased by 3.6%, and load factor climbed 0.6 percentage point to 82.8%, which was a record for the month of April, surpassing last year's record of 82.2%. Regionally, Africa, Europe and Latin America posted record load factors.

In order to thoroughly implement the instructions of the 19th CPC National Congress and to better promote and realize high-quality civil aviation development, CAAC recently issued the Framework System for High-quality Civil Aviation Development in China (Trial). The document specified detailed indicators to measure the high-quality development of the civil aviation industry and required departments and entities in the industry to seriously follow those indicators, so that efforts aiming high-quality civil aviation development will be guided, assessed and regulated by the indicator system and high-quality development will be truly realized in the civil aviation industry.

On May 10, CAAC Administrator Feng Zhenglin exchanged views with Hainan Provincial Party Secretary Liu Cigui on civil aviation development in Hainan, and had a meeting with Hainan Provincial Government in Haikou, where the two sides conducted in-depth talks on deepening cooperation between CAAC and Hainan so as to better meet the demand of Hainan for comprehensively deepening reform and opening up.
