Chinese bees take charter flight to Malaysia
Apr. 19, 2006
On the morning of the 19th, 4.8 million honeybees divided into 800 groups took a charter plane from the Fuzhou Changle International Airport in Fujian Province to Sarawak of Malaysia. This is the first time for China to export honeybees on such a large scale.
These honeybees are locally bred Italian bees and valued at $32,000 US dollars. The charter flight costs $50,000 US dollars. This export was jointly organized by Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and Fujian Dade Investment & Development Co., Ltd.
These exported honeybees shoulder the crucial task of helping aboriginals of Malaysia to rise income. The Sarawak government will assist the aboriginals to develop the apiculture industry and improve their economic conditions.
