Enjoy Chinese tea on Singapore Airlines
BTB Travel | May 22, 2006
Aromatic, delicately-flavoured and refreshing-Singapore Airlines First Class customers can enjoy a cup of freshly brewed Chinese tea on selected flights, just like they would in a traditional Chinese tea house.
The new tea selection is available to Singapore Airlines First Class customers travelling between Singapore and cities in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It is also being served on flights to Los Angeles (via Taipei), San Francisco (via Hong Kong) and other selected long haul routes.
The selection comprises famous brews like Long Jing, a green tea known for its unique nutty flavour; Pi Lo Chun, a refreshing tea with a tinge of fruity scent; Jasmine, a classic with a subtle floral fragrance; Tie Guan Yin, a rich-tasting tea that is the perennial favourite with gourmet tea drinkers; and Oolong, a special blend with a distinctive and pleasant honey-like taste.
To enhance the customer's tea-drinking experience, the tea is freshly brewed using the finest quality tea leaves, and served in the traditional Chinese three-piece porcelain ware, called the gaiwan, comprising the teacup, lid and saucer.
The introduction of Chinese tea complements the oriental flavours of Shi Quan Shi Mei, Singapore Airlines' unique Chinese meal concept exclusively designed for its First Class customers, which showcases a spread of 10 specially created Chinese delicacies.
In addition to the wide selection of wines and beverages on board, customers can also enjoy a glass of soya bean milk, a nutritious and popular beverage in Asia. It is now available for all customers on Singapore Airlines' flights between Singapore and cities in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The drink is also available for First and Raffles Class customers during breakfast service on flights from Singapore to cities in Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia, and on the Airline's non-stop flights to the United States.
Singapore Airlines is dedicated to providing customers with the best inflight dining experience. Besides a wide selection of gourmet teas and coffees, Singapore Airlines engages three world-renowned wine experts, Steven Spurrier from the United Kingdom, Michael Hill-Smith from Australia and Karen MacNeil from the United States, to select wines and spirits for customers across all three classes of travel. The wines and beverages on board complement a delectable menu of inflight gourmet offerings designed by a panel of nine well-renowned chefs including Gordon Ramsay from the United Kingdom, Yeung Koon Yat from Hong Kong and Sam Leong from Singapore.
