Qantas Would Comply With New Measures
Qantas Airways Limited | Aug. 10, 2006
Qantas said today that it would comply with new, temporary security measures introduced by the UK Government for flights departing from and transiting through the United Kingdom.
The new measures, which apply to all airlines operating from the United Kingdom, restrict the items that passengers can carry onto an aircraft as hand baggage.
Qantas has begun contacting customers likely to be affected by the new security measures in Australia, its Asian hubs and in the UK and Europe.
These additional security requirements do not affect Qantas domestic and other international operations.
Qantas operates four services each day from London Heathrow, and also carries passengers from Australia and Asia into Heathrow for onward travel.
As a result of the changes, Qantas customers travelling on flights from and to the UK are asked to allow additional time for check-in.
Further information for Qantas customers will be available on http://www.qantas.com.
