Hong Kong International Airport said on Tuesday it recorded a monthly record throughput of 4.1 million passengers in July, up 8.6 percent from the same month last year, thanks to robust visitor arrivals.
The passenger growth was attributed to an increase in travellers to and from mainland China and Southeast Asia, airport management director Howard Eng said in a statement.
"We expect the growth momentum to continue for the remainder of the year," he added.
July's aircraft movement rose 5.4 percent from a year earlier to 24,000 and cargo throughput climbed 0.6 percent to 292,000 tonnes. In the past 12 months, passenger throughput rose 8.5 percent to 43 million.
Cargo throughput increased 7 percent to 3.5 million tonnes and aircraft movements advanced 10 percent to 277,000 in the past 12 months, the airport said.
