Dragonair today announced the resignation of CEO Stanley Hui. He will leave the company on August 29 after almost 10 years in the post.
Mr. Hui joined Dragonair as a Director and Chief Executive Officer in February 1997, and since then has overseen its transformation from a small carrier with 11 aircraft serving 24 destinations in Asia to an award-winning airline with a fleet of 37 aircraft serving 38 cities worldwide, with services to the China Mainland and Taiwan as the key markets.
"The Board would like to thank Mr. Hui for his leadership and dedication to the airline over the years, which have seen Dragonair evolve into a successful, award-winning carrier," said Kong Dong, Chairman of the Board of Dragonair. "It has been a pleasure to work with him, and on behalf of the Board, I wish Mr. Hui every success in the future."
Under Mr. Hui, Dragonair has been voted Best Airline - China for five consecutive years in the respected international Skytrax passenger survey.
He oversaw the introduction of a successful freighter operation in 2000, which took the airline into new markets in Europe, the Middle East and the US. In 2005, Dragonair was named Cargo Airline of the Year in the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation's Awards for Excellence 2005 for "having the greatest impact on the development of the air cargo industry in the region".
