Qantas Airways Limited | Sep. 24, 2006
Qantas said today that it would provide additional seats for travel to the AFL grand final.
Qantas Group General Manager Sales and Distribution, Mr Rob Gurney, said that following the weekend's finals results, the airline had moved quickly to add flights from the home cities of the winning teams.
"Qantas has added 24 flights from Perth to Melbourne providing an additional 4200 seats for travel from 26 to 30 September," Mr Gurney said.
"We have also added 10 extra flights from Sydney to Melbourne for the same travel period, providing an additional 2200 seats.
"Each year Qantas develops contingency plans to provide as much additional capacity as possible for all matches in the finals series.
"Qantas currently has sufficient capacity for flights between Sydney and Melbourne and Sydney and Brisbane for the NRL grand final and is closely monitoring demand.
"A range of fares is available on all additional flights. We are expecting heavy demand for these seats and they will sell quickly, so fans should make their bookings early to avoid disappointment."
