CIMB Bank & MAS to Offer Co-branded Credit Card
Malaysia Airlines | Sep. 22, 2006
On 22nd September, CIMB Bank and Malaysia Airlines signed a Collaborative Agreement to launch a co-branded credit card, CIMB Enrich, later this year.
The collaborative agreement was signed by Dato' Nazir Razak, CEO of CIMB Group and Encik Idris Jala, Managing Director/CEO of Malaysia Airlines. It was witnessed by Jean Yap, Head of Direct Banking and Cards of CIMB Group and Raja Nordiana Zainal Shah, General Manager, Corporate Marketing and Loyalty Programme of Malaysia Airlines.
The CIMB Enrich card is Malaysia Airlines' first venture into co-branded credit cards. The co-branded card will offer a stong customer value proposition alternative for Malaysia Airlines' existing 600,000 Enrich members in Malaysia. CIMB Enrich will also seek to tap new members from frequent traveling Malaysians.
The card will be issued under the Mastercard platform and feature contactless functionality offering cardholders the speed and convenience of contactless payments for small everyday purchases.
Also present at the event were representatives of merchants who had signed up as CIMB Enrich Partners. When cardholders charge their purchases to the co-branded card at CIMB Enrich Partners, cardholders are able to accelerate the accumulation of Enrich Miles.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dato' Nazir Razak said, "The Malaysia Airlines and CIMB Bank co-branded card is a big leap forward in us strengthening our value proposition to customers. We are confident that the consumer will embrace our commitment of providing them a "Fast and Easy way to Free Flights", potentially making the CIMB Enrich card the foremost loyalty programme in Malaysia, and in the region."
"Our partnership with CIMB Bank is timely, as this is the first time that we are jointly launching a co-brand card for our frequent flyers. It is one of the key initiatives around both the 'Winning Coalitions' and 'Flying to Win Customers' thrusts of our Business Turnaround Plan. The CIMB Enrich card thus has great potential and is a fantastic business opportunity for Malaysia Airlines to increase both its leisure-focused and business-interested customer base as well as its premium travel passengers," said Mr Idris Jala.
