Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) has re-launched their enhanced SMS service giving instant access to live flight times for all Sydney Airport flights.
In conjunction with Information Dialling Services Pty Ltd, one of Australia's leading Service Providers, and 2-way messaging developers, i2SMS.net, the SMS service gives round-the-clock access to all Sydney Airport international and domestic arrivals and departures. It's the easiest and most convenient way for travellers, people meeting arriving passengers, and taxi drivers to optimise their time when meeting flights.
The service is available on all major Australian mobile carriers, however some consumers may be restricted by their specific carrier and mobile phone plan.
SACL Chief Executive, Russell Balding, said this service would provide easy, up-to-the-minute information of flight arrivals and departures to all airport users and visitors.
"This is another example of Sydney Airport and its business partners providing a world-class service by the leading-edge application of technology. The SMS service will be especially convenient for business travellers, family, friends and ground transport providers who want information on demand from a mobile source, particularly on arriving aircraft times," Mr Balding said.
Consumers receive flight information on their mobiles by simply texting the airline code or name along with the flight number, e.g. "QF44", to the number 199 00 747. Within a few seconds they receive back the current flight time and status information available for that flight.
Each SMS text request is charged at AU$1.00 (including GST) to the consumer's mobile phone account.
SACL believes this service adds new level of convenience to the consumer's airport experience and will allow them to better plan their time.
