Large Traffic Growth at Adelaide Airport
AAP | Oct. 27, 2006
More than 5.8 million airline passengers used Adelaide Airport in 2005/06, a rise of 7.5 per cent from the previous financial year.
Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) said the airport recorded significant traffic growth in all segments of the passenger market, coinciding with the completion of the airport's new terminal.
AAL's annual report said more than 5.8 million passengers flew in and out of Adelaide Airport in 2005/06, a rise of more than 400,000 passengers compared with the previous year.
AAL managing director Phil Baker said domestic traveller numbers in 2005/06 exceeded five million for the first time in airport's history while international passenger numbers rose 9.6 per cent to about 380,000.
Regional passenger numbers increased by 9.2 per cent to about 410,000 for the financial year, Mr Baker said.
"We expect passenger numbers will continue to grow, particularly as people are drawn to South Australia to support our burgeoning defence and mining industries." Mr Baker said.
