The crash occurred still within airport grounds, about three kilometers from the end of the runway. There, plane wreckage and scattered belongings were strewn over an area the size of a football field. Nearly everyone on board was killed. But a few were lucky enough to survive.
A plane crash survivor said, "It was stable, actually it was stable, what went wrong I don't know."
Another plane crash survivor said, "I can't recall anything, I just saw my friend outside, who was waiting for me. He told me that we had a plane crash and I said contact my father."
The plane was owned by the Aviation Development Company, which faced another serious plane crash 10 years ago, in Lagos.
In November 1996, a jet belonging to the private airline plunged into a lagoon outside Lagos, killing all 143 on board.
