Embraer S.A. | Dec. 07, 2006
On December 7, Embraer announces that Colombia's stateowned SATENA took delivery of its first EMBRAER 170 jet in a ceremony held at Embraer's Gaviao Peixoto Unit in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The event was attended by SATENA's General Manager, General Hector Campo Plata; the Colombian Air Force official representative, Major General Ricardo Rubianogrott; Embraer's Chairman, President and CEO Maurlcio Botelho and Executive Vice-President for the Defense and Government Market Luiz Carlos Aguiar, among others.
SATENA's EMBRAER 170 E-Jet is configured with 76 seats in a single-class layout and will increase the number of Embraer jets in the Colombian airline fleet, which operates five 50-seat ERJ 145 and will receive another EMBRAER 170 early next year.
This new EMBRAER 170 E-Jet will be used to increase frequencies on existing routes and to open new domestic destinations. Internationally, it will fly from regional airports to destinations in Ecuador, Venezuela and
Panama, although other countries are also under consideration.
"This delivery represents a new step in our relationship with SATENA," said Luiz Carlos Aguiar, Embraer Executive Vice-President for the Defense and Government Market. "Embraer's ERJ 145 jets are playing an important role in SATENA's fleet and the new EMBRAER 170 jet will further increase the flexibility and expand the company's operations, opening new markets and new business opportunities."
"The addition of this super aircraft to SATENA's fleet represents the expansion of the Colombian's Government presence in all regions of the country, offering more convenience and safety," said General Hector Campo Plata, SATENA's General Manager.
