ANA Releases Passenger Traffic Figures for New Year Vacation

On January 9, ANA announced passenger numbers for the winter vacation period from December 28, 2006 to January 8, 2007 inclusive, for airlines with the ANA Group*.
Domestic passengers overall rose 2.9 percentage points. Despite unfavorable weather conditions, which led to flight cancellations, actual passenger numbers exceeded the forecast of December 21. Okinawa proved the most popular destination, as with the previous winter vacation period. Peak travel dates for departures from Tokyo were Friday, December 29 and Saturday December 30. The peak dates for traffic returning to the capital were Wednesday, January 3 and Sunday, January 7.
The number of international passengers carried rose 12.5% to a record 165,000. China proved the most popular destination, with passengers up by 28.9% to 48,000, and North American routes came in close behind with an increase of over 20%. Outbound traffic from Japan peaked on Friday, December 29 and Wednesday January 3. Inbound peaks were Thursday, January 4, Sunday, January 8 and Monday, January 8.
