JAL to Offer First Class Seats on Domestic Routes

Japan Airlines Corp is planning to offer first class seats on domestic flights in fiscal 2007 to boost its sagging earnings in the sector, sources said on January 4. About 10 first-class seats will be installed on each flight in an effort to win back lucrative business travelers from rival All Nippon Airways Co, they said.
The move is the core of a medium-term management strategy JAL plans to release in February. JAL posted a group net loss of 47.2 billion yen in its 2005 business year ended last March 31, and has been struggling to turn itself around after weathering a management coup and several safety incidents.
