CMC Electronics' PilotView Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) has been selected by Embraer to equip the flight decks of its Legacy 600, E-Jets family, and Lineage 1000 aircraft.
"After an extensive evaluation, we have selected the CMC PilotView as the EFB to equip our aircraft," said Mauro Kern, Embraer Vice-President, Programs - Airline Market. "With the EFB system, our commercial E-Jets and our Legacy 600 and Lineage 1000 business jets will offer customers a modern tool that will enhance cockpit procedures by bringing flexibility, precision and optimization to pilots' dispatch and inflight activities."
Jean-Pierre Mortreux, president and CEO, CMC Electronics, added: "We are delighted that Embraer has chosen our PilotView EFB for their regional jets and business jets. This selection by a major manufacturer of air transport aircraft is a tremendous endorsement for our PilotView." He further explained: "Our EFB solution delivers a dependable, avionics grade system that supports industry leading applications. Many of the features found only in Class 3 EFBs such as 'FMS-style' line-select keys, a high-resolution, fully dimmable display, integrated communication capabilities and DO-160D qualification, make the PilotView EFB an ideal system to meet the varied requirements of both air transport and the discerning business jet operator."
CMC's PilotView EFB improves productivity by enabling efficient access to up-to-date aircraft documentation and flight planning information. En-route and approach charts, moving map display and real-time graphical weather information are all readily supported. The PilotView EFB is a compact, lightweight system with a display/processor unit featuring a wireless connection. It is easy to install in a variety of cockpits where space is at a premium. CMC has been delivering units to customers since November 2004.
Qualification to RTCA DO-160D and a design with no moving parts guarantees continued operation in all phases of flight. A high-quality 8.4" AMLCD display offers exceptional readability in all cockpit ambient light conditions. In addition to line select keys and a convenient integrated keyboard, the PilotView EFB offers a "film-on-glass" touch-sensitive screen providing pilots with a choice when accessing or navigating through EFB software applications. A pilot can also immediately view what is on the other pilot's display through the touch of a single key. A unique feature is a one-touch video key that enables the pilot to toggle between the current application and video images from video surveillance systems.
