Lufthansa Introduces Innovative Online Services
Deutsche Lufthansa AG | Jan. 16, 2007
From January 16, the German Lufthansa website www.lufthansa.com is offering two new, attractive services. With the "betterFly" podcasts - entertaining, informative items in a digital audio format - passengers can quickly and easily download the most important information about attractive destinations onto their own mp3 player. The "Fanflug" sports portal contains a wealth of fascinating background information about sports highlights worldwide. The most important sports events are also integrated into the fan calendar. All available flights to the sports event of your choice with the lowest possible fares are now just a mouse click away.
Lufthansa Podcasts - An Electronic Tour Guide for People on The Move
Once you have booked your "betterFly" ticket for 99 euros and packed your suitcase, all that is missing is some interesting background information about your destination. This is where the new podcasts, which are available in German at www.lufthansa.com/betterfly, can help you. The two virtual tour guides "Sabine" and "Thomas" provide a delightful audio accompaniment during visits to important places, tourist attractions, and famous cultural sights and also give you tips on culinary highlights. A visit to Madame Tussaud's, London's famous waxworks, is recommended as is a tour of the famous catacombs of the Eternal City, Rome, or a trip to the numerous ski resorts around Innsbruck.
The eight-minute audio items in a digital mp3 format get Lufthansa passengers in the perfect holiday mood and enable them to prepare for their trip without expending a great deal of time or effort. The free informative tour guides transport the listener to Barcelona, Budapest, Innsbruck, London, Milan, Paris, Prague, Rome, Vienna and Zurich. There are also plans to expand the offer to include podcasts for a total of 25 attractive destinations.
"Fanflug"- The Online Sports Portal with An Integrated Booking Function
No matter whether they are travelling to watch Bayern Munich, the German national football team, the Tour de France, or tennis at Wimbledon, Lufthansa takes fans to sports highlights around the world. As the "Official Carrier" Lufthansa is also supporting a forthcoming major sports event in Germany - the 2007 World Handball Championship. With this in mind, the airline has revamped its Internet offer for all sports enthusiasts and installed several new functions on its website www.lufthansa.com/fanflug.
The main feature is an online fan calendar that presents the key sporting events worldwide and is directly linked to the Lufthansa booking mask. Fans can, for example, call up all available flights to the sports event of their choice and then make an online booking. The portal lists the most important events relating to football, Formula 1, tennis and many other sports. It also includes the latest news and information about major events, such as the 2007 World Handball Championship, as well as tips and competitions. Users can customise the web page to suit their individual requirements and select their favourite sports. A newsletter and the desktop ticker provide the latest results and information and ensure that fans are kept up-to-date on their favourite club.
