Flying to Your Wedding in Nanjing
Jan. 18, 2007
What kind of vehicles are cooler than limousines for a wedding? How about renting a helicopter?
That service is now available for citizens in Nanjing, capital of eastern China's Jiangsu province.
A local aviation company claims to have recently obtained approval to run the service from the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC).
The carrier has designated two helicopters for rental, which are an Mi-171 capable of transporting 28 passengers and an A-119 for up to eight passengers.
The service comes with a sky-high rental fee of 30,000 yuan (US$3,860) for just one hour.
Citizens can also rent the aircraft for sightseeing.
The company revealed a French businessman already made a reservation and may become the first passenger.
Earlier this month, an aviation company in the northeastern city of Harbin started offering similar helicopter services.
