Sydney-London Fares to Drop 28%, Thanks to LCCs
Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation | Jan. 23, 2007
Sydney-London one way fares will drop to as low as US$540 one way, including taxes, some 28% below the cheapest available discount fares currently in the market, according to research by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA).
The Centre's analysis* is based on the just-announced Jetstar route from Sydney-Kuala Lumpur (commencing in Sep-07), linking with an AirAsia service to Macau and Oasis Hong Kong service from neighbouring Hong Kong to London Gatwick.
"For savvy travelers, LCCs are ing up a range of cheap travel opportunities across Asia - and now to many destinations around the globe. This is just one of many combinations now possible and once again demonstrates the remarkable role LCCs are playing in redefining air travel worldwide", said Peter Harbison, the Centre's Executive Chairman.
* Analysis based on 23-Oct-07 departure from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur with Jetstar (US$195), 24-Oct-07 AirAsia departure from Kuala Lumpur to Macau (US$63) and 25-Oct-07 Oasis Hong Kong departure from Hong Kong to London Gatwick (US$281). All fares are inclusive of taxes and charges. Analysis does not include overnight accommodation or ferry transfer from Macau to Hong Kong.
